Hi Michael, my favorite film of 1959, and one of my favorites from any year, is Jean Renoir's Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe(Picnic on the Grass). For me it distills the essence of Renoir in its sensuality and spontaneity.

Michael, I'm surprised to see that you did not list Mankiewicz's All About Eve in your list for 1950. I think it is one of the best films of that year, or any year for that matter.
